Google Releases Android SDK for Mobile Phones

Recently, we reported about the first prototype of a mobile phone especially designed for Google’s Android operating system. Now, Google has announced the launch of its new software development kit (SDK) for the mobile phone platform, called Android (m5-rc14).
The Linux-based Android SDK features a new user interface named geocoder, which lets developers search for businesses as well as translate an address into a coordinate and vice versa. The latest Android software has the ability to enhance the platform’s application programming interfaces and even developer tool.
Moreover, it can even make layout animations for applications. It supports many audio file formats and can upgrade Eclipse plug-in.
The very first news about Google’s Android was out in November last year. According to Google, the latest version of the platform comes with an operating system, user interface and applications and eliminates “the proprietary obstacles that have hindered mobile innovation.”
We can expect the first mobile phone featuring Android platform by the 2008-end which offers an open operating system and related functions for wireless devices.

HTC to incorporate Google Android OS Very Soon?

There are rumors circulating, claiming that Taiwan-based High Tech Computers (HTC) will make use of Google’s Android Software for its mobile phones. The phone developer seems to be in progress of making a handset that would probably run on the Android smartphone operating system and the handset will be called ‘Dream’.
As per InfoWorld, Dream will feature both a full QWERTY keyboard and a big touchscreen. It measures over 5 inches long and 3 inches wide. Users can slide or swivel out the keypads that are placed underneath the screen. Thanks to QWERTY keypads and the Android OS, HTC Dream will offer functions such as easy e-mail, note-taking, and writing Web addresses as well as internet navigational controls, which are also located below the screen on the handset.
Apparently, the Google OS-based phone is also expected to feature GPS geo-location along with music/movie playback amongst others.
However, no official confirmation has been received from the Taiwanese mobile phone maker as yet. Maggie Cheng, an HTC representative said, “We cannot comment on this product.”
Samsung is also believed to enter the race. When Google’s Android operating system is finally rolled out and is integrated into the phone, we will actually get to know the competition between Android and Windows Mobile OS.
The HTC Dream phone is slated for release in late 2008. HTC may become the first handset maker in the world to introduce a mobile phone developed around Android.

G Phone hits early in November of this year

T-Mobile, which launched the first handset to be powered by Google Inc.'s Android operating system Tuesday (Sept. 23) said it will cross the Atlantic by early November, and reach other European countries during the first quarter of 2009.
The launch has been widely anticipated.
The T-Mobile G1 device features both a touch-screen and a fold-out QWERTY keyboard, as well as a trackball for one-handed navigation.
T-Mobile is launching the smartphone Oct. 22 at a price of $179 with a two-year voice and data contract.
"With Android, we have opened the mobile Web not only for millions of users, but also to mobilize the developer community that understands the next most important platform in the world rests in the palm of our hand," said Andy Rubin, Google's senior director of mobile platforms, in a statement.
The device — originally known as the HTC Dream — features WiFi, 3G (with dual-band UMTS), multimedia messaging, email support (GMail as well as other POP3 and IMAP email services), instant messaging (with Google Talk as an option), full HTML browser, GPS functionality, 3-megapixel camera, the ability to multi-task, a music player with access to the Amazon MP3 store, Bluetooth, and quad-band GSM support.
It also has one-click contextual search, which lets you search for anything simply by typing in something with the keyboard.
The G1 also features other Google services such as Google Maps StreetView and YouTube.
Not everyone was overwhelmed at the launch. For instance Carsten Brinkschulte, CEO of software group Synchronica, while welcoming the phone and the Android platform, suggested its influence will be restricted to a small section of the market.
The Gphone will, he notes, work Synchronica's mobile email and synchronization middleware right out of the box, just as with Apple's iPhone and many other smartphones.
"There's a common misconception that every time a major vendor jumps into the market, we will see smartphone sales surging. This does not reflect the reality. My prediction is that the Gphone will have very little impact on the mass market, which is dominated by feature phones", said Brinkshulte in a statement.

Erasing Our Faith and History about Ram Setu

Since last few months, the national news is focused on validating and un-validating the religious belief, the faith of 80 million people of India. And this time again target was Ram. Both opponent of Ram and Supporter of Ram are misusing Ram's name. One of these stupid leaders... is a leader from Tamilnadu. Since, his and his party politics is based on enmity from Hindi, Hindu and North India, he has been pushing it hard to get his agenda done. NDA, a non-rational collitions passed to much stupid legislation... and this UPA govt is trying to overtake NDA in such legislation. After Quota in higher education, separate investments and development plans for a specific religious group, this mindless govt's another step is to let the Hindu's of India feel self pity on their self.. Living with a hostile government who is creating enmity among its different caste, discriminating for being Hindu and blasting off it's religious structure. (Ramsetu) I have been doing an independent study of Ram setu since last two years. Agitated by the dubious acts from NASA, I started thinking to work on Ram Setu. This study was to analyze Ram Setu’s position and structure from Remote Sensing and GIS perspective. One can manipulate common population using technical jargons asMany anti-Hindu elements quoted NASA on the age determination of Ram Setu. Of course one cannot decide the age of rock, but the structure, formation, association and visual interpretation can always be done using satellite images. And this is where remote sensing is concern.

- On the basis of remote sensing principles and image analysis my study found that this structure is man made.

- It is constructed on the basic bridge making rules.- Patterns of water passage and gaps are based on the bridge suitability.- Comparative studies with similar landforms indicate, this structure is not natural and it was engineered to cross the narrow channel.

- Ram Setu is best example of cross Channel Bridge as it is designed sustain the waves and tsunami current, which are frequent in Bay of Bengal. (For pseudo leftist and dummy secular people I would like to say one more thing:

- don't dare to label me with any political ideology. It is an independent study and independently inspired work. I personally respect all faith and religious beliefs) EIA and SIA were never done for this project. Let see, how the mess happened… even they are not getting any economic return:

• Even though they blast off the whole structure, NONE of commercial ship can pass though it. This ship would be coming again in same route -encircling Sri Lanka.

• The economic returns will be not equalized even in 80-90 years to the investment made till now.. As it can only pass small boats and steamers.

• The ecological hazard will be more than any return in your national interest as it will devastate the sea ecology. That cannot be undo in any case.

• The digging ship which was bought from Holland is damaged which cost 200 million $ as rock structure is not oceanic• Kerala will be exposed to Tsunami waves, it was Ram setu, which protected it..

• And at last but not least- Its matter of faith. I huge social cost to be paid by anyone, who is erase whole structure

SPEED UP

Microsoft reserves 20% of your available bandwidth for their own purposes like Windows Updates and interrogating your PC etcYou can get it back:Click Start then Run and type "gpedit.msc" without quotes. This opens the group policy editor. Then go to:Local Computer Policythen Computer Configurationthen Administrative Templates then Network then QOS Packet Scheduler and then to Limit Reservable Bandwidth.Double click on Limit Reservable bandwidth. It will say it is not configured, but the truth is under the 'Explain' tab i.e."By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the default."So the trick is to ENABLE reservable bandwidth, then set it to ZERO. This will allow the system to reserve nothing, rather than the default 20%.It works on Win 2000 as well.

Protect your Gmail account.....:Must Learn

Your email account can contain a lot of personal information, from bank alerts to love letters. Email that, I'm sure, you don't always want other people to see. We understand how important your Gmail accounts are to you, so we're adding a new layer of information and control. With this new feature, you can now track your recent sessions and you can also sign yourself out remotely. If you are anything like me, you probably sign in to Gmail from multiple computers. I, for example, occasionally sign into my Gmail account from a friend's house when I need to check an important email. Usually I remember to sign out, but every once in a while I wonder if I really did. Now I no longer have to wonder. At the bottom of your inbox, you'll see information about the time of the last activity on your account and whether it's still open in another location:

Using the above example, a quick glance at the footer while I'm at work shows that my account is indeed open in one other location. But I recognize the IP address - it's my computer at home. Turns out I left my Gmail account open when I left home in a hurry this morning.Your IP address, or Internet Protocol address, is a number associated with your computer when you connect to the Internet. Some of you might want to know your IP address numbers (more info on finding out your IP address below) for an extra layer of control. For others who don't want to think about IP information, you don't need to.Continuing with the above example, I can see more details about my recent activity by clicking on the Details link:

The top table, under "Concurrent session information," indicates all open sessions, along with IP address and "access type" -- which refers to how email was retrieved, for example, through iGoogle, POP3 or a mobile phone. The bottom table, under "Recent activity," contains my most recent history along with times of access. I can also view my current IP address at the very bottom of this window, where it says "This computer is using IP address..."With this information, I can quickly verify that all the Gmail activity was indeed mine. I remember using Gmail at the times and locations listed. Being extra cautious, I can also click on the "Sign out all other sessions" button to sign out of the account I left open at home.Note: We are in the process of rolling this feature out to the latest version of Gmail, which is available for Firefox and Internet Explorer 7.

Know your Gmail Accounts : Security purpose must to read

We've heard from some of you that Gmail's auto-added contacts can lead to too much address book clutter. One of the advantages of automatically creating contacts is that all of the addresses you email subsequently show up in auto-complete. We wanted to preserve this benefit while giving you the ability to have a clean, uncluttered contact list, and we've come up with a solution that's rolling out this week. It separates your contacts into two groups: "My Contacts" and "Suggested Contacts."

My Contacts contains the contacts you explicitly put in your address book (via manual entry, import or sync) as well as any address you've emailed a lot (we're using five or more times as the threshold for now).Suggested Contacts is where Gmail puts its auto-created contacts. By default, Suggested Contacts you email frequently are automatically added to My Contacts, but for those of you who prefer tighter control of your address books, you can choose to disable usage-based addition of contacts to My Contacts (see the checkbox in the screenshot above). Once you do this, no matter how many times you email an auto-added email address it won't move to My Contacts.
